Roger Judd's musical journey has taken him from chorister at Winchester Cathedral, through an organ scholarship at Pembroke College, Cambridge, to the organ lofts at Ely Cathedral, St Michael's College Tenbury Wells, and latterly St George's Chapel in Windsor Castle, from which he retired in 2008 after 23 years. In recognition of that work, Roger was honoured by HM The Queen with Membership of the Royal Victorian Order. In 2015 St Michael's honoured him with the title of Organist Emeritus, of which he is very proud.

His work at Windsor involved accompanying the choir in services, radio and television broadcasts, recordings and concert tours and, of course, many services at which the Royal family was present. For four terms he was acting Director of Music during an interregnum. He has a number of solo CDs to his credit for Herald and Priory.

After sixteen years research, in November 2015 Positif Press published Roger's long-awaited history of The Organs in Windsor Castle. This wide-ranging book looks in depth at all the organs that have been played in St George's Chapel and the State Apartments over the centuries. It has garnered some excellent reviews … Formidable and detailed research over many years lies behind this book (Choir & Organ) … a definitive study … unlikely to be superseded for many years, if at all (British Institute of Organ Studies).

Now living near Hereford, Roger plays at St Laurence Ludlow as Sub Organist, and is involved with the Diocese of Hereford Organists' Training Scheme that helps village organists raise their game; for six years he was chairman of the Herefordshire Organists' Society. He also plays on occasion as deputy organist at Hereford Cathedral, as well as Dean Close School Cheltenham, Tewkesbury Abbey and St Michael's Tenbury. He maintains a gently active recital programme; recent highlights in 2016 included four concerts in Norway at Kristiansand, Oslo and Trondheim Cathedrals and Kristiansund. In 2017 he played at St Thomas, 5th Avenue, New York and the Memorial Church, Harvard University, and in the UK at Hereford and St Edmundsbury Cathedrals, and Hexham Abbey. In 2018 played in Ely, Gloucester, Westminster and Winchester Cathedrals, The Queen's College, Oxford and King's College, Cambridge.
