Showcasing two of Shrophire's most talented young musicians, accompanied by Susie Allan, piano.

Lily Atkin is 16 and music scholar at Shrewsbury High School. She began saxophone aged 8, gaining grade 8 distinction at 11. Studying with Maria McKenzie, Lily has achieved distinctions in both ATCL and LTCL saxophone performance diploma, distinctions in clarinet performance at grade 8 and ATCL diploma, studying with Donny McKenzie and is studying grade 8 piano with Susie Allan. Lily has additional saxophone studies with Naomi Sullivan at Birmingham Conservatoire.

Lily won Shropshire Young Musician of the Year 2016 and was a finalist in Llangollen Music Festival International Young Musician 2017. She was finalist in GDST and Gregynog Young Musician of the Year 2018.

Lily plays alto saxophone in the National Youth Wind Orchestra of Great Britain and clarinets in The Shrewsbury School Symphony and Wind Orchestras. At Shrewsbury High School Lily is a member of Orchestra, Concert Band, Senior Wind and Jazz Group, Saxophone and Clarinet Quartets and sings in Chamber Choir. Lily is a keen composer.

Rosie Sherpa is 14 years old and a pupil at Shrewsbury High School. She studies piano with Susie Allan and violin with Jayne Robinson. Rosie has played in the National Youth Orchestra of Wales for two years, and played in the National Children's Orchestra of Great Britain for three years. Last summer, Rosie won the Hayden Davies award of the National Youth Orchestra of Wales for ‘the most promising player still at school.’ She has also played solos in local venues such as Theatre Severn, St Chad's Shrewsbury and Shrewsbury Abbey, and has played in major venues with her national orchestras. Rosie hopes to pursue a career in music.

Susie Allan studied as a scholar at Worcester College, Oxford, and specialised in accompaniment at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama. She is best known for her work as a vocal accompanist and has partnered established singers such as William Dazeley, Susan Gritton, Thomas Randle, Nathan Berg, Gwynne Hughes-Jones, Roderick Williams, Garry Magee and Stefan Loges. Susie teaches accompaniment at several of Britain's music colleges and conservatoires including the Royal College of Music and the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama. She lives in South Shropshire and also teaches locally.
