The first of a series of 9 Saturday lunchtime recitals on St Laurence's famous Snetzler organ with large screen video projection of the performer.

On home territory, the Organist and curator of St Laurence's famous and historic 1764 Snetzler organ plays a programme to show this beautiful instrument at its finest.

Shaun Ward studied organ and harpsichord at the University of Huddersfield with Dr G.H. Cummings. He gained his BMus (Hons) in 1999, receiving the Hollingsworth prize for outstanding organist of the year. He completed his MA in performance, specialising in organ and harpsichord, in 2001 winning the concerto prize. Following posts in Leeds and Hereford, he took up his current post of Director of Music at St. Laurence's in 2007 and performs widely as a recitalist and continuo player.

The organ in St Laurence's is one of the finest Parish Church organs in England. At its heart is the 19-stop 1764 organ by the Swiss maker John Snetzler. This was enlarged in the C19 by Gray and Davison to form the magnificent 4-manual instrument that we have today.
